Our story

VERGILAS CRAFT DISTILLERY is based on the rich history of Rijeka and the famous Rijeka water.

The city of Rijeka has a rich history, and one of the most famous names is Robert Whitehead, a British mechanical engineer, who left an indelible mark on the history of Rijeka through his revolutionary contribution to the development of naval weapons, the Torpedo.

Inspired by the glorious past of Rijeka, through the center of which flows the famous Rječina River, returning to its source, we come to the renovated mill in Trnovica, a small village on the Rječina River that was once the center of events.

It was in the old mill in Trnovica that the successful entrepreneur and innovator Ivan Vergilas, listening to the sound of waterfalls and enjoying the tranquility of the Rječina River, wanted to enjoy a good drop with a unique signature for a complete feeling of well-being, and thus the idea for a series of Rijeka drinks called WHITEHEAD was born.

Designed to delight all the senses, the WHITEHEAD range is complemented by three types of Premium gin with deeply aromatic rum, whiskey with complex layers of flavors, smooth and neutral flavors of vodka and teranin from a home-made, Istrian recipe.

The Premium WHITEHEAD offer is complemented by selected drinks, exquisite oils, seasoned salts, authentic spices and special delicacies of this region that round out the story of innovations, historical events and interesting places along the Rječina River, the far-known Rijeka water.
